Bizarre as it may appear the use of a marriage ring by men wasn’t common till recently. The use of rings as a symbol of everlasting love enshrined in wedding can be traced back millenia.

It was, basically, in the 2nd world war the use of marriage rings by men became commoner.

( Note that mens marriage rings and mens wedding bands are interchangeable, both meaning a similar thing. It became the custom for US squaddies going to war to publicise their marital status by the wearing of a person’s marriage ring. They were pleased to make public their dedication to their wife by the wearing of a public symbol that announced that dedication to all. Given this practice of wearing mens marriage bands was reasonably new it was much more creditable that these men were ready to decline the marital obscurity open to them from not wearing a ring and actively selected to make a public statement about their choice.

Today it is likely as common for a just married man to wear a ring as not. The modern man may consider it his duty to select to make the same public marital statement as his better half will.

And his other half may well regard it as a condition of the marriage that he do so. In fact, in today of equality, if she is prepared to make a statement then should he not do so as well? Regardless of the proven fact that the wearing of a ring by a girl is a matter of choice, it is essentially nearly obligatory because of the fact that it’s so common. Many girls don’t even consider the probability of not wearing one. Frequently a person customarily considers the wearing of a person marriage ring extremely punctiliously.

Firstly, is he nervous about a public show of his marital status? Some men, whether properly or incorrectly, are threatened by this. Second while the wearing of jewelry by ladies is so common as to go unremarked that is not really the argument for men. For many men the wearing of mens marriage bands is merely a case of being asked to wear jewelry.
